Part of the Education Unit in the Dean’s Office, the Office of Education and Instructional Support is also known as OEIS. We administer didactic and experiential courses, use technology to facilitate teaching and learning, and collect and manage data for systematic assessment and strategic decision making.

What we do

  • Centralize and disseminate policies, procedures, and standards related to education as approved by the faculty and School leadership
  • Document and track curriculum information
  • Serve as the first point of contact for education and educational technology affiliations with other programs and campus services
  • Manage School of Pharmacy education facilities
  • Coordinate teaching assistants for PharmD courses in conjunction with department faculty members and course directors
  • Assist course directors in planning and course logistics including scheduling facilities, revising course documents, communications, and technology
  • Create student learning groups for conferences, labs, workshops, objective structured clinical experiences, and other learning activities
  • Create and maintain course Collaborative Learning Environment and Ilios pages
  • Assist with examinations and course assessments including proctoring, preparation of electronic and computer-based exams/quizzes, recording grades, scheduling exam viewings, distributing graded exams, preparing summaries of exam performance
  • Provide administrative support and coordination for Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) curricula
  • Serve as a resource for paid and without salary preceptors
  • Administer site and rotation assignments for the IPPE and APPE programs
  • Support preceptor development programs and initiatives
  • Administer and manage core education technologies for Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program including Illios, Collaborative Learning Environment, EValue, and Exam Soft
  • Advise and train faculty members on core technologies that support course delivery
  • Provide support to faculty members to implement new technologies and learning approaches in the classroom
  • Serve as a resource for new technologies
  • Coordinate classroom technology to facilitate instruction
  • Coordinate implementation and administration of course and teaching evaluations for didactic and experiential courses
  • Support evaluation research regarding student performance and curricular outcomes to guide strategic decision making about the curriculum and PharmD degree program
  • Support all aspects of School of Pharmacy residency program administration and accreditation
  • Serve as resource to residents, preceptors, and faculty members regarding the residency program
  • Serve as the liaison to PhORCAS in the residency selection process
  • Manage School of Pharmacy continuing education and preceptor development programs
  • Serve as the liaison to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) for continuing pharmacy education programs; establishing systems to ensure activities and programs are ACPE compliant
  • Advise the faculty and School on procedures related to continuing professional education; developing new programs and processes in conjunction with the faculty
