Scholarship Timeline & Amounts

Applications and a detailed timeline for each academic year will be emailed to all students, typically in late fall. The total amount available and number of scholarships awarded may vary each academic year. In 2025-2026, over 50 scholarship awards, cumulatively totaling over $200,000, will be awarded to students. In addition to the scholarships listed below, we also share external scholarship opportunities.

Award Descriptions/Background

Peter Ambrose Scholarship 

This scholarship honors the memory of Peter Ambrose, PharmD, graduate of the Class of 1980 and esteemed faculty member in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and supports a PharmD student who demonstrates service to the Pharmacy profession and is interested in pursuing a career in clinical practice.

Class of 1969 Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Class of 1969 and supports students in the School of Pharmacy.

Pharmacy Class of 1972 Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship honors the legacy of the Class of 1972 and supports students pursuing a PharmD in the School of Pharmacy who demonstrate leadership in their class and have demonstrated financial need.

Dohmen Life Science Scholarship

The Dohmen Life Science Scholarship was established in 2013 in memory of Dr. Sally Van Doren, PharmD. Sally, known for her vivacious energy, love of learning and entrepreneurial spirit, graduated with a PharmD from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy before completing her residency at UCSF. This prestigious scholarship will support a promising student in the UCSF School of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy program who is focused on a career within the life science industry or in a non-traditional field. Preference will be given to a candidate with demonstrated leadership capacity, entrepreneurial spirit, outstanding academic achievement, and financial need.

Kelly P. Hales Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship honors the memory of Kelly P. Hales, PharmD ‘79 and provides support for students in the School of Pharmacy, with a preference for supporting students with financial need.

Lisa Chun Rodondi and Kevin M. Rodondi Chancellor’s Endowed Scholarship

The Lisa Chun Rodondi and Kevin M. Rodondi Chancellor’s Endowed Scholarship was established in 2011 by Lisa Chun Rodondi, PharmD ’84 and Kevin M. Rodondi, PharmD ’85, with matching support from Nicholas S. Hellmann and Susan Desmond-Hellmann. This prestigious scholarship will support a promising student in the UCSF School of Pharmacy, with a preference for a candidate with demonstrated leadership capacity, commitment to providing service to the community, and financial need.

Leon Levy and Family Endowed Scholarship

Established by Leon Levy, alumnus of the Class of 1957, this scholarship supports students enrolled in the PharmD program at UCSF School of Pharmacy.

Mark Baje Memorial Scholarship

The Mark Baje Memorial Scholarship was established in the UCSF School of Pharmacy to honor Mark Baje, PharmD ’99. As a UCSF student, Mark was a dedicated leader, passionate learner, and the recipient of the Class of 1999’s Bowl of Hygeia Award. After graduation, Mark pursued a lifelong career in pharmacy, and this scholarship aims to honor his spirit and legacy by investing in future generations of pharmacists. The Mark Baje Memorial Scholarship will provide scholarship support for PharmD students who embody Mark's incredible dedication to the pharmacy field and his unwavering commitment to patient care, leadership, community service, and the future of the pharmacy profession.

Roger G. Ketcham Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship supports students at the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy, in memory of Emeritus Professor Roger G. Ketcham, PhD.

Shirley and Richard Plotzker Scholarship

Established by Shirley Plotzker, PharmD ‘71 and Richard Plotzker, MD, this scholarship supports a third-year student enrolled at the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy.

Vietnamese Pharmacists Association (VPhA) Scholarship

Supported by the Vietnamese Pharmacists Association-USA, the VPhA-USA scholarship supports PharmD students, with preference given to those who demonstrate commitment to helping the Vietnamese community and/or expresses an interest in serving the Vietnamese community in the future.
