Clinical pharmacists offer medication service to Fresno community

Medication management advice was offered free to the Fresno, California, community on January 12, 2010 by clinical pharmacists from the UCSF School of Pharmacy. The event introduced the Medication Management Service, Fresno and the expertise if its patient-centered pharmacists to the California Central Valley area.

Service director Nancy Nkansah, PharmD, launched the program in late 2009 to help patients increase their ability to access and manage their medications and help health care providers select the best medications for their patients. "The benefit of these services has been shown in hundreds of peer-reviewed studies and recognized by government, medical, and pharmacy professional organizations… UCSF has developed this service to provide the Central Valley community, regardless of income-level, with affordable medication management/consultation services," comments Nkansah.
