Intern License Requirement
Students enrolled in the PharmD program are required to hold a valid intern permit from the California Board of Pharmacy in order to participate in pharmacy practice experiences. All students must file an intern pharmacist application upon entry to the PharmD program by the established deadline. Intern permits issued by the California Board of Pharmacy are valid for five years. Information about intern permits and applications is available from the California Board of Pharmacy and is provided to entering students as part of Orientation.
A delay in obtaining an intern permit will delay entry to IPPEs and affect the student’s progression in the PharmD program. In such instances, the associate dean of experiential education and professional development may consult with the Sub-Committee on Student Progress to determine an academic plan.
