Arkin receives Ono Pharma Foundation Breakthrough Science Initiative Award

Michelle Arkin, PhD, has received the 2018 Breakthrough Science Initiative Award from the Ono Pharma Foundation to study a class of proteins, called 14-3-3 proteins, known to be involved in various cancers, with the ultimate goal of enabling discoveries that lead to new ways to treat cancer.

Gruenberg receives sustainability award for second straight year

UCSF School of Pharmacy celebrates commencement 2017

The UCSF School of Pharmacy conferred the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree on 120 graduates at its 2017 commencement ceremony on May 19 at Louise Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.

Dean B. Joseph Guglielmo, PharmD, addressed a gathering that included more than 1,000 of the graduates’ family, friends, and colleagues, as well as School faculty members and special guests. In his remarks, he celebrated the graduates’ diversity, breadth of experience, empathy, and perseverance.

Craik elected member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Charles S. Craik, PhD, joins the 237th class of newly elected members of the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences who will be inducted on October 7, 2017 at a ceremony in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Craik is a faculty member in the School’s Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and director of the Quantitative Biosciences Consortium (a consortium of five UCSF PhD degree programs).

The UCSF School of Pharmacy has established new endowed faculty positions to be held by the chairs of two School departments.

Giacomini honored with ASCPT distinguished service award

Kathy Giacomini, PhD, has been named the 2017 recipient of the Henry W. Elliott Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT).

Founded in 1900, ASCPT comprises more than 2,200 members whose primary interest is to advance the science and practice of clinical pharmacology and translational medicine.
